Levy Lecture Series Presents via Zoom: "The State of Hate and Extremism in America" with Southern Poverty Law Center Chief of Staff Lecia Brooks
Event Description:
In her presentation, Lecia Brooks will explore “The State of Hate and Extremism in America.” Brooks is the chief of staff for the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), the premier U.S. organization monitoring the activities of domestic hate groups and other extremists – including the Ku Klux Klan, white nationalists, the neo-Nazi movement, antigovernment militias and others. Don't miss this opportunity to hear Brooks walk us through the latest data and a discussion about whether the pandemic is helping or hindering these organizations.

In her role as chief of staff, Brooks provides counsel to senior leadership, assists with strategic planning and works with people from across the organization to ensure the SPLC’s success, whether it is achieving long-term goals or maintaining effective daily operations. Before her current role, Brooks served as the SPLC’s chief workplace transformation officer, where she supported leadership and staff efforts to build a culture of inclusiveness and ensure a continued focus on diversity and equity.
