Intelligent Lives Screening
We are proud to host a screening of a new film from Dan Habib. Intelligent Lives challenges what it means to be intelligent, and points to a future in which people of all abilities can fully participate in higher education, meaningful employment, and intimate relationships.
INTELLIGENT LIVES stars three pioneering young American adults with intellectual disabilities – Micah, Naieer, and Naomie – who challenge perceptions of intelligence as they navigate high school, college, and the workforce. Academy Award-winning actor and narrator Chris Cooper contextualizes the lives of these central characters through the emotional personal story of his son Jesse, as the film unpacks the shameful and ongoing track record of intelligence testing in the U.S.
The event will open at 3:00 pm, with the film starting at 3:30. The 70 minute feature will conclude by 4:40, and it will be followed by a brief discussion. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from three local participants who live the story of Intelligent Lives.
The showing is free for all and open to the community, and there will be water and light snacks available. Donations will be accepted at the event.
