About the New Overtime Rules and Proposed Non-Compete Ban:
Federal agencies are keeping employers busy. On July 1, 2024, it will become more difficult to classify workers as exempt from overtime pay. New Department of Labor (DOL) regulations will increase the minimum salary required to be exempt. Employers also face a possible federal ban on non-compete restrictions if a proposed Federal Trade Commission (FTC) rule becomes effective on September 4, 2024. Meanwhile, it is crucial that companies understand current requirements for enforceable post-employment restrictions.
