Evanston Symphony Orchestra Concert

Date: February 5, 2012 Time: 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Event Description

Fireworks from Russia make for a rousing program in the depths of winter, led by ESO Musical Director Lawrence Eckerling. Night on Bald Mountain, Mussorgsky's portrait of a mid-summer's festival of evil eventually yielding to a church bell will be played in the glittering version of Rimsky-Korsakov. Khachaturian's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra was written for David Oistrakh, and virtuoso violinist Bella Hristova is currently acclaimed for her mastery of this score. Shostakovich's Symphony No. 1 rounds out this exciting program.
